Arm balances and inversions are some of the most exhilarating and fun yoga poses to practice. You will learn how to safely stand on your hands so you can explore new poses with more confidence, and experience the benefits and joy of being upside down. I will break down these poses to make them more accessible and help you to cultivate awareness of your body being upside down and moving through space. The workshop will begin with an invigorating, dynamic vinyasa practice to warm you up and stretch and strengthen the muscles you use in arm balances and inversions.

I will help you to get your hands on the ground and your feet in the air in a variety of different arm balances and inversions. I will also offer tips to overcome mental and emotional barriers you may have about these poses. Come prepared to explore and push the edges of your regular practice!

Yoga Detox, Cleanse, and Renew Workshop

Saturday, August 13, 2-4 p.m., Menlo Pilates & Yoga, 1011 El Camino Real, Menlo Park. 

This two-hour workshop will feature a strong, flowing Vinyasa practice as we sweat, detoxify, and cleanse our bodies of unwanted toxins. We will strengthen, tone and open our entire bodies with hip openers, backbends, forward folds, twists and inversions, followed by a delicious, rejuvenating savasana. We will take our time to really open our hips and hamstrings and stretch out our spines and muscles. While we are holding yoga poses, Susan will guide us through visualizations and breathing exercises so we’ll feel strong, lean, and balanced. We will end with a guided meditation to connect with our inner wise, healthy selves.

This will be a strong vinyasa yoga class with options for modifications. It will be a physical workout combined with visualizations, breathing, and meditation. Students of all levels are welcome.

When you stand before a class, ready to teach yoga, you want to be your best. Your confidence will put your students at ease and allow them to relax and open themselves to the experience. NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) incorporates cutting edge brain science with positive psychology to optimize performance and communication. Coaches and psychologists use NLP to help people overcome fears and limiting beliefs, improve their confidence, and communicate and perform more effectively.
In this NLP yoga workshop, you will learn several simple and effective techniques to boost your confidence and communicate effectively when you teach and practice yoga. The workshop will include a full Vinyasa yoga practice where you will directly experience the effects of NLP language on your practice. We will explore how to apply NLP to your yoga and  other areas of your life. Each participant will leave with tools to help them be their best.
